When something goes wrong

Narrow down a problem and collect useful diagnostic information.

Check what failed

Is the problem the page, the browser, or the network?

Try another ordinary webpage. If only one site fails, record its error and review its Site Controls. If Bigfoot features are unavailable but websites load, inspect the Bigfoot connection state. An unavailable network feature does not mean ordinary browsing has failed.

What information is useful when reporting a problem?

Record the browser version, your operating system, what you did, what you expected, and what happened. Include the exact visible error. Avoid publishing identity backups, passphrases, or private page content in a report.

Diagnostics and recovery

How do I collect diagnostics?

Choose Help > Collect Diagnostics… and save the report. Collecting it creates a local file; it is not the same as submitting a report. Review what you share and use the contact page to describe the issue.

Should I delete my browser data to fix a problem?

Preserve useful data and identity backups before attempting a reset or removing an installation. If the browser presents a recovery screen, read the choices carefully. Deleting the only usable identity copy can permanently remove your ability to act through it.
