Bigfoot Website Privacy Policy
How the Bigfoot website handles information from visits, early-access requests, and forms.
Site measurement
Control future anonymous site counts from this browser. Forms and security checks work either way.
Who operates this site
Soliton Group LLC operates this website and acts as the controller for information submitted through it.
This policy covers the Bigfoot website. Bigfoot software has its own license agreements and privacy notices: Bigfoot Browser (license agreement and privacy notice), Bigfoot Node (license agreement and privacy notice), and the Bigfoot Footnotes client (license agreement and privacy notice).
Information you provide
Node and Footnotes client early-access forms collect only your email address, selected platform, and consent. The hidden node or Footnotes client track comes from the page you use. The contact form collects your email address, selected topic, and message.
Network role applications for governance members, footnote reviewers, and validators collect your email address, your identity's public thumbprint, your statement of why you want the role and how you would contribute, and consent. We review each application. Active governance members receive every network role application and review it at their discretion. Your email address is not shared with them.
Language preference
If you choose a site language, we store that preference in a cookie for up to one year. The cookie contains only your language choice and is not used for analytics or advertising.
Aggregate site measurement
Bigfoot counts page views, download calls to action, form starts, and successful new submissions. Counts may be split by page, by browser, node, or Footnotes client path, and by selected platform. Measurement stores aggregate event counts only: it sets no analytics cookie, creates no visitor or session identifier, includes no email or raw event history, builds no advertising profile, and performs no cross-site tracking.
You can stop future site measurement in this browser using the site measurement controls. We remember this choice for up to one year in a cookie containing only the value “off”. Allowing measurement again removes that cookie. This choice does not affect forms or security and does not remove past anonymous totals.
Information processed for security
The site processes network and request metadata needed for anti-abuse, security, delivery, and reliability. Form rate limiting uses a salted, short-lived hash derived from the request address; the application does not store the raw address. Turnstile verification and email delivery process the information needed to provide those services.
How information is used
Early-access information is used to manage node and Footnotes client intake and follow up about access. Existing Browser early-access records remain covered by this policy but are no longer collected. Contact information is used to route and answer the message. Security data is used only to prevent abuse and operate the site reliably.
Network role applications are used by governance members to decide whether to sponsor an applicant. Sponsorships and votes then happen publicly on the Bigfoot Network. While you hold a network role, we use your email address to send you service messages, such as updates about the Bigfoot Network and its software. These messages are required while you hold the role, and you cannot opt out of them, but you can request deletion of your information, which ends them.
Service providers
The website uses infrastructure, anti-abuse, database, DNS, and email-delivery providers to operate the site and its forms. They process information only as needed to provide those services.
International processing
We, our service providers, and the governance members who review Bigfoot Network role applications may process your information in countries other than your own, where data protection laws may differ.
Retention
Early-access submissions are retained while Bigfoot remains in testing and for up to 12 months afterward, unless an active relationship, security need, or legal requirement requires otherwise. Contact messages are scheduled for deletion no later than 12 months after receipt and may be deleted sooner following a completed privacy request. A legal requirement may require retention until a specified later date. Verification links expire after 30 minutes, and form rate-limit records expire after 15 minutes.
Network role applications are scheduled for deletion no later than 12 months after submission unless you are admitted to the role. If you are admitted, we keep your application, including your contact details linked to your public thumbprint, for as long as you hold the role and for up to 12 months after your role ends and our records are updated. A completed deletion request removes your information sooner. Copies received by governance members are held by them and are not removed by a deletion request.
Delete your information
Use the verified deletion form to remove every early-access request and network role application associated with your email address. The initial response never reveals whether the address is stored. If records exist, an expiring single-use link is emailed to that address; opening it does not delete anything until you submit the confirmation.
Your choices
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of submitted information, subject to applicable law and legitimate security or recordkeeping needs. Use the contact form for privacy questions or requests outside the self-service deletion flow.
