BFT

Your contribution
counts.

BFT lets people back what they value and keeps the economics of the social web inside Bigfoot.

A participant economy

People create the value.
Bigfoot lets them keep it.

Value in motion

Make Bigfoot useful.
Share in the value.

Create

Make something worth passing on.

Publish an idea, share useful information, or take on a research request. When people value what you add, they can send you BFT directly.

Support

Put value behind what matters.

Tip a sharp analysis, support work you want to see, or ask someone to investigate a question. The exchange stays between the people creating and valuing the work.

Sustain

Even using Bigfoot can contribute.

Your client can help serve public Bigfoot information, and the network credits BFT when that help is used. Your private browsing data is never part of the exchange.

A different social economy

The network works for the people in it.

People pay for useful network service. The network credits the contributors and operators who provide it. Value circulates through Bigfoot instead of being extracted into an advertising business.

Value without leverage

Share value.
Not control.

BFT can credit contribution and pay for services inside Bigfoot. It cannot buy reach, rank, moderation authority, or control over anyone else’s experience.

BFT is credited for participation. It is not sold as influence, governance, or a passive return.

BFT, plainly

What BFT is, and what it isn't.

BFT is

  • Credited for work the network uses, or sent by people who value what you add.
  • Spent on network actions, like publishing and replying.
  • A record of the value people provide to the network.

BFT isn't

  • Sold by Bigfoot.
  • Issued for computation that exists only to secure itself.
  • A source of passive returns.
  • A way to buy reach, rank, or control.

How BFT is credited

The network credits BFT for work it uses.

Every credit is for real work, or comes from people who value what you add. Governance membership is a volunteer role and is unpaid.

  • The network credits Bigfoot Browser for helping carry the network: assigned cache coverage and preparing public information packages, at the same rate as a node.
  • The network credits node operators for hosting and relaying new posts and replies, and for assigned cache work.
  • Validators share 5 percent of the service charge on each new post and reply they finalize.
  • The network credits footnote contributors when their footnotes are published, and they receive the requester’s fee when their answer to a footnote request is published.
  • The network credits footnote reviewers for footnotes that reach a verdict, including rejections.
  • Authors share three quarters of what people spend replying to their posts, and receive tips in full.
  • Verified domain Spaces can receive tips and weekly subscriptions from their supporters.
