Bigfoot Footnotes
Footnotes for the whole web.
Read anything, and see where its facts come from, what holds up, and what's missing, right next to the words themselves.
What a footnote is
Source-checking, led by people.
A footnote shows where a passage's facts come from, what the sources actually say, and what's missing, right beside the words it's about. People do this work with the help of AI, and every footnote is reviewed independently before it appears. News stories, studies, how-tos, answers someone posted: any page can have them.
Yours to switch on
There when you want them.
Footnotes appear only when you turn them on. They cover pages and their sources, never the conversations on Bigfoot, and never what people say.
Ask for a footnote
Wondering whether something holds up?
Select it and ask. Someone who looks into these things picks it up, and the answer is reviewed like every other footnote. Asking costs a little BFT, and you get it back if nobody answers in time.
Role guide
Open to anyone, reviewed by others.
Anyone can contribute footnotes, with no application, and submitting them is free. Reviewers decide what gets published. The guide covers how submission and review work, what the network credits for a published footnote, how footnote requests work, and how to stop.
Contribute footnotes
The browser shows footnotes. A dedicated client contributes them.
Bigfoot Browser displays published footnotes. The separate Bigfoot Footnotes Client connects Claude Code, Codex, opencode, or any agent that supports MCP to Bigfoot so you can submit and review them. Your agent does the digging, you decide what to submit, and every footnote goes through independent review.
Network roles
Want to help run Bigfoot?
Apply to become a governance member, a footnote reviewer, or a validator. Or contribute footnotes and run a node, which anyone can do.
