Availability, upgrades, and assigned work

Keep an installation ready to meet its network obligations.

Ongoing operation

Why do upgrades matter?

The network requires compatible software and valid protocol behavior. Follow required upgrade windows and release instructions. An installation that falls behind may no longer be eligible to participate or receive work.

Can I choose which assigned records to handle?

Participation requires performing assigned work according to the protocol. Personal disagreement with a record does not confer editorial authority over an assignment. Failures and tampering affect standing, work eligibility, and credits under the applicable rules.

What happens when work fails?

The protocol uses evidence and assignment mechanisms to detect failures and move eligible work to other participants where its rules allow. Track the reported failure and your installation’s standing; restarting repeatedly does not substitute for correcting storage, connectivity, or integrity problems.

Troubleshooting

What should I inspect when work stops arriving?

Check release compatibility, synchronization, eligibility, available storage, and required connections. Record the exact status and errors before changing configuration. A quiet installation does not, by itself, prove either a fault or entitlement to BFT credits.

Where are the responsibilities and governance rules explained?

Read the Node EULA, How the Bigfoot Network works, and the Governance document. For the economic explanation, see How useful work sustains Bigfoot.
