Your network identity
Understand the public identity that authorizes your actions.
These answers explain the network design. Available actions and contribution depend on your connected release.
Identity basics
Do I need to give my legal name to participate?
Ordinary participation does not require linking a network identity to your legal name. You authorize actions using a key you control. Appointed roles, including validators and footnote reviewers, have separate admission requirements.
What does a signature establish?
It allows the protocol to check that the action was authorized by the relevant key. It does not establish the author’s legal name, the truth of a statement, or the trustworthiness of the person using that identity. Identity without a personal account explains why.
Keeping access
Who can recover my identity?
Keep a usable copy of your key, normally through a protected identity backup. Soliton Group LLC cannot reset a lost key or recover a forgotten backup passphrase. See Manage identities and backups for browser instructions.
