Outline
See a page’s headings beside it and jump straight to any section.
Using Outline
How do I open Outline?
Click the Outline button in the address bar while you’re on a webpage. A rail opens on the left of the page, listing its headings in order and indented by level.
How do I go to a section?
Click its heading, and the page scrolls to it. If the page has changed since the list was made, Bigfoot updates the list instead of guessing and says The page changed. Choose a heading again.
Why is the list empty?
Either the page has no headings, and Outline says No headings on this page., or Bigfoot couldn’t read them, and it says Outline is unavailable for this page.
Does Outline stay open when I go to another page?
Yes. Outline is set for each tab: while it’s open, it shows the next page’s headings once that page loads. With tiled pages, it follows the tile you’re working in.
Can I change its width?
Yes. Drag the rail’s inner edge. Bigfoot keeps the width until you quit.
Does Outline save anything?
No. It doesn’t change the page’s address or your history, and nothing it reads from the page is saved. It also works in Private browsing.
Auto-hide
What does Auto-hide do?
Auto-hide is on when you open Outline. The rail sits over the page without resizing it. Scrolling down hides the rail, and scrolling up brings it back.
How do I keep the rail visible?
Choose Disable Auto-hide. The rail then stays open beside the page, which makes the page narrower. The choice applies to that tab and isn’t saved.
