Bigfoot Browser Privacy Notice

This Notice describes how official Bigfoot Browser software published by Soliton Group LLC handles information. Websites, platform browser-engine providers, independent Bigfoot nodes and other services have their own data practices.

The Bigfoot Browser EULA covers use of the software. The Network Participation Terms explain the consequences of participating in Bigfoot, including publishing public records.

Regular browsing may store information on your device, including tabs and groups, settings, bookmarks, browsing history, download history, saved notes and highlights, and cached website icons. The platform browser engine separately handles website cookies, credentials, cache and other website data. Browser controls let you inspect or clear the categories they expose.

Private windows use separate temporary website data stores. Private tabs and their browsing history are not restored after the last Private window or tab closes. Bigfoot network features, identity, wallet, publication and network contribution are unavailable in Private browsing.

Private browsing does not conceal your connections from websites, your internet provider or other services involved in loading a page. Files you deliberately download remain where you save them.

When you visit a website, the platform browser engine makes the requests needed to load it. The website and its service providers receive the requested address, headers and ordinary connection details, such as your internet address (IP address) and timing. Your internet provider and platform services may also observe connection information. Bigfoot does not proxy ordinary browsing traffic.

Web searches go to your selected search provider. When live search suggestions are available, the browser also sends the text you type to that provider. The suggestion request does not include your browsing history, bookmarks, cookies or Bigfoot identity. The provider receives ordinary connection information and applies its own data practices.

Using available Bigfoot features exchanges the requests and responses needed for those features with network participants. What another participant can see depends on its role: a computer answering a request may see the query or public item requested, and a computer you connect to can see ordinary connection information. Relaying a request does not make every part of it invisible to everyone.

Records you deliberately publish are public and may be copied, stored and passed on by other participants. Drafts, credentials, browser history, cookies and Private browsing data are not public Bigfoot records.

Network contribution operates only when enabled and while the browser is running. You can turn it off in Settings. Private browsing never contributes. Assigned crawling is a separate opt-in.

While the browser is running, it may check for updated tracking-protection filter packages. The hosting service receives ordinary request information. This request does not include your browsing history, bookmarks, cookies or the page you are viewing.

Application stores, software-update providers and platform browser-engine services have their own information practices. Fetching documents or downloads from the Bigfoot website also sends an ordinary website request.

Regular browser data remains until you clear it or remove the profile, subject to the software’s storage limits and cache retention. Private website data is discarded when the final Private browsing session ends. Saved files and backups remain under your control.

Removing a local copy or stopping network participation does not erase copies held by other participants.
