What is Bigfoot?
Bigfoot makes the web itself the social network. It brings people, conversation, and participation to the open web instead of confining them inside one company platform.
How do I use Bigfoot?
Bigfoot Browser is the first user-facing way into Bigfoot. It is currently in early access, with additional clients and access surfaces possible over time.
Is Bigfoot Browser available now?
Bigfoot Browser is currently available through early access. You can request access from the Download page.
The public network
Is everything public?
Yes. Everything published to the Bigfoot network is public. There are no private messages, private posts, private groups, or hidden Spaces.
Can I choose what I see?
Yes. You shape your own experience. Bigfoot does not impose one company-owned feed or engagement algorithm on everyone.
Is Bigfoot federated?
No. Bigfoot is one coherent network. There are no instances, no defederation, and no server owner deciding which parts of the network people can reach.
Who owns the Bigfoot network?
The network is publicly operated and publicly owned. No company owns its shared social history or controls one mandatory feed for everyone.
Participation and operation
What is BFT?
BFT is how value moves within Bigfoot. People can earn it when others value what they contribute or when their software provides network services that people use.
What can BFT not buy?
BFT cannot buy truth, ranking authority, moderation authority, guaranteed reach, default visibility, or control of the network.
Can I run a node?
Yes. Node software is entering early access alongside Bigfoot Browser. Prospective operators can apply from the Run a Node page.
Why is Bigfoot privately stewarded?
Private stewardship maintains one canonical protocol and release process so Bigfoot remains one coherent network. It does not create a company-owned feed or give the steward control over what every user sees.
